We have some amazing stories about the work we do and the people we meet. Read the stories below, or scroll down to the bottom and click on the "Launch Media Player" to watch a video from one of our trips.

"When our Tanzanian Optometrist told us that what we needed to help the young Albino girl was very expensive, our hearts sank. We asked him, how much? Basicially it was affordable by U.S. standards, and the Optometrist happened to have exactly what she needed --- a 6x telescope! Praise the Lord that we were able to help this girl with very serious vision problems." --Karen Winn sharing about a recent trip to Tanzania in July 2015...Check out our picture of Miriam with her monocular on our Tanzania 2015 "Tanzania Children's Home" photo page.

"'Why are you here? Why have you come to help us? Why do you have such joy?' patients would ask and gradually the team was able to tell them. They would pull seekers aside and tell them, 'We are here to share the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. He is our joy and He offers love and forgiveness for all.'" -- Tara Skarin sharing about the Vision Clinic in Ethiopia, August 2006

"I sat down at the Reader Station during our clinic in Liberia and the first person to sit down was an old Pastor who had not been able to read his Bible for four months and said he was not able to preach to his congregation anymore. Could we help him? I tried the glasses we had but none could help. I started into my “we can’t help you speech” and he said to a person next to him that he once had glasses that were 11 power. She couldn’t understand him but I felt for him. I was one of only three people on the team that knew we had some very expensive +12 lenses. So I took him straight to the end of the process and there was a team member, Joey, making prescription glasses. I told him what the man said he needed and Joey assembled the glasses for him - and they worked! Joey felt moved to pray for this man who was so thankful and he prayed like he had never prayed before; quoting scripture and giving encouragement like he had never experienced before. We believed it was all orchestrated by God. I was able to overhear what the man needed and knew that we had just what he needed. Praise God!

One lady said she had not been coming to church for a long time. Linda gave her glasses and told her they were from Jesus. The lady said, 'If these are from Jesus I will come to church this Sunday and see you.' Again, praise God!

Randall helped a man who was interested in Jesus but did not know the steps (to become a believer) and was afraid. Randall was able to teach him more about Jesus and to not be afraid, and then led him in a prayer of acceptance. He was also able to connect this new believer to a church in his area. Our Lord is awesome!"-- Brian Morehead sharing about the Vision Clinics in Liberia, February 2013.

"It was heart-touching to hear some of their stories; to hear of their girlfriends, wives, children and the families they all loved and missed. Despite the fact that these men had committed crimes and probably deserved to be there as a result of their actions, this experience really humanized them for me." -- Toni Daves Johnson sharing her experience of serving prisoners in El Hongo Prison, January 2008

"A deaf girl named Alba said that she was homeless and that her parents had died a few years before... Using American Sign Language, I asked her if she knew that Jesus loved her. Alba said that He could not love her because she was defective because of her deafness. I shared with her stories from the gospels, about how Jesus loved many people who had disabilities such as deafness and blindness and how Jesus healed them. Alba gave her life to Christ right there! I finished testing her vision and provided glasses for her, and then gave her a card from the Director at the Deaf School in Mekele and told her to go there." -- Kellie Neill sharing her encounter at a Vision Clinic in Ethiopia, August 2006
